THE ACE OF HEARIN’ AIDS

Remembering when we last saw Motorhead at the 9:30 Club in DC, the guy in the ticket booth was wearing earplugs, and he was in the foyer!, Lynette reluctantly agreed to be dragged along to see them once more. This time, our intrepid and long-served trio was opening for the Meltdown Festival curated by Jarvis Cocker and re-launching the newly overhauled Royal Festival Hall.  

 

A great night. Loads of beer guts and Motorhead t-shirts. The odd Hells Angel (Cambridge chapter, I believe - part of the bookish Angels). And, encouragingly, more than the occasional female - either clad in very tight jeans, low-cut T and stilettos (fan) or Laura Ashley frock (is James Taylor playing tonight?). I didn’t see Lynette headbanging but I think she may have been tapping her feet to that old Motorhead gem, Snaggletooth.
