Roddy Frame
Cadogan Hall, London
November 18th, 2008
We headed to Sloane Square for a special treat - Roddy Frame in the acoustically and visually wonderful Cadogan Hall. Lynette said it’s like a US presbytarian church in here. She wasn’t far off. The hall used to be a christian science church. Roddy had as his guest Emily Maguire who’s an English folk singer who lives in the Australian outback.
Roddy came on to raptuous applause and played impeccably through a range of material from Aztec Camera through to his haunting solo albums. Amazing guitar technique and voice and an absolutely brilliant songwriter. At one point he mentioned Edwyn Collins. There was a shout from the balcony. Roddy asked “oh, is Edwyn here?” and everyone turned round. The house lights went up lights went up and everyone was on there feet applauding. Roddy joked about always being in the shadows and how Edwyn gets bigger applause even at his own gig. Great concert.
