Don’t laugh. We like Gilbert O’Sullivan. It’s easy to get distracted by 70’s schmultz, but we have a national treasure in him. Certainly one of the best pop songwriters of our time. And an all round quirky fellow.
These days he lives in the Channel Islands and you don’t get to see him much. But he is still producing some great songs, releasing records and doing exactly as he pleases. Unlike some from the 70s he’s remained true to his brand and not sold out with the continuous retro touring that goes on with many artists from that period. And he’s cool enough to have been invited to perform at Glastonbury this year.
