Disco Nap formed in 2000 after Michelle the singer answered an ad Nigel had placed in the Washington City Paper. Nigel knew Gene the bass player and the band assembled around this core adding Chad Sokolowski (drums), Erich Russek (keys) and Craig Welter (keys).

Live at Zig’s, Alexandria, March 2002 (video courtesy of Gene’s friend)

Michelle came up with the name Disco Nap - referring to a rest before a night clubbing.

The band rehearsed about twice a week in the basement of Erich's or Nigel's. And boy was it loud. Disco Nap lined up a few gigs in local bars and then dissolved. Michelle went on to form the Hickories. Chad and Gene stayed with Erich in his band. And Nigel went back to writing and recording.
