ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST

Reckless Records RIP

February 3rd 2007

Reckless Records, one of my haunts for 20 years, appears to have gone the way of many a record store recently. I popped down to Berwick Street only to find the lights off in both shops and the shutters down. With people’s format tastes changing and rents rising I can only speculate that there wasn’t enough business. They certainly had a good stock. Thankfully, Sister Ray up the street appears to be OK though they were closed for “stock taking.” Mister CD has an estate agents sign in the windows. I love this street but wonder what the future is. Here’s a tune I dedicated to Berwick Street.

PS Reckless did go under but one of its Berwick Street stores was taken over and became the excellent Revival Records.
