MEN IN DRESSES! WE MUST BE IN BRITAIN

January 2007

We’re making sure we get a varied diet of London culture. We went to see The Taming of the Shrew at the Old Vic Theatre. This production is noted for its all male cast. It took a while to get used to hairy blokes in wedding dresses and tights but after a while you became accustomed to it. It certainly made it a little easier to take when Katherina is thrown around by Petruchio that she is actually being played by Simon Scardifield (centre).

The cast were highly talented being able to do a lot of high energy slapstick and play a variety of musical instruments. The Old Vic’s profile has increased recently as Kevin Spacey is its current artistic director.
