Which one’s the quarterback?
Summer 08
Nigel dragged me to watch England play at Wembley. The venue is spectacular and I must admit that between the boring bits I quite enjoyed it. They could do with better with the half time entertainment though. The first match was a gentile friendly against the Czech Republic.
The second match was a World Cup qualifier against Kazakstan. We were absolutely squashed onto the Metropolitan line to Wembley accompanied by a drunken Geordie singing all the way.
Becks came on in both matches, much to the appreciation of the fans. I am puzzled by David James the goalie. He sometimes seems to stand and watch the ball go past him into the back of the net. I was under the impression he is meant to reach out and stop the ball!
Post match crowd control is excellent. The police do a great job of getting 86,000 fans onto the Tube.
