THE RETURN OF THE GIANT BUGS

June 2004

It's been an interesting couple of months since May. Every 17 years these giant, red-eyed bugs called cicadas emerge from the ground. This would be fine if there we just one or two of them. But cicadas don't do anything in half measures. Basically, the cicada equivalent of the populations of India and China combined all decide to pop out of their hibernation - right here in Washington DC.

Regardless of how fascinating the life cycle of the cicada, Georgie's main goal has been to consume as many as possible. She approaches the task like it's some type of pie-eating contest. The resulting flatulence has become all too much to bear. So Georgie is now reluctantly modeling the latest in anti-cicada eating
